Both operating systems have many built-in functions that can help you with transferring files. But this is a major drawback. This can only be possible if both are on the same local network. If they are not on the same local network, they can be replaced by a third party solution.
✔️ To set up file sharing on a Mac:
There are some settings that allow you to share files between Mac and PC. Then there are a few steps to be followed to transfer the files:
👉 Go to the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen.
👉 Then go to System Preferences and select Share.
👉 Click on the files in the check box to the left.
👉 Click on the Options button.
👉 Go to the check box and select it. You can share files and folders with SMB.
👉 Then select the shared files and folders with OTP.
👉 You will be taken to the Windows File Sharing section.
👉 Click on the files you would like to share.
👉 : Enter the user’s password and click Done.
👉 You can press the plus and minus buttons to adjust preferences for shared folders and shared users. File sharing must be on and Mac’s IP address in mind.
✔️ To access Mac files on Windows:
👉 First open File Explorer.
👉 Next, go to the address bar and then type the IP address of the Mac.
👉 Enter your username and password in a new window.
👉 Follow the same pattern of login information as the Mac.
👉 The Shared User and Shared Folder List should be displayed in Explorer. There you can send, edit, or copy folders.
👉 Drag the file you want to move from Mac to Windows into your local folder.
✔️ To set up file sharing on Windows:
👉 First check if Network Discovery is on. Then open the Settings app.
👉 Go to Network and Internet and click on Status.
👉 Choose sharing options under Change your network settings.
👉 Then you can expand both the public network and the private network.
👉 Then turn on Network Search.
👉 Then click File and Printer Sharing and save the changes.
👉 Right click on the folder name and go to Properties and then Sharing and Network to share files and folders.
To access Windows files on a Mac:
👉 Open the Finder app first.
👉 Then select Go and connect to the server.
👉 Type IP address and press Enter.
👉 Then when prompted, type in your username and password and then press enter.
